STEM Day at ANKA Technologies Inspires Creativity and Curiosity Among Students and Teachers

The STEM Day Celebration held on 12 November 2025, at ANKA Technologies, brought together a vibrant community of learners, with 32 students and 11 teachers participating in a morning of innovation, hands-on learning, and creative expression.

Organized with the aim of promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, the event successfully highlighted the value of practical, experience-based learning for young minds.

The program commenced with a warm welcome speech by Mr.Hasthika Girihagama, followed by an introductory talk on the importance of STEM education in shaping future-ready learners.

This set the foundation for a dynamic and engaging agenda that blended creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and technology.

One of the early highlights was a group activity where students designed team names using waste materials, encouraging sustainable thinking alongside innovation.

Students then participated in a lively Puzzle Fixing Challenge, fostering collaboration and logical thinking under time pressure.

A major attraction of the day was the STEM Toolkit Session conducted by Mr. Hasthika and Mr. Sajith, where students explored practical STEM tools and experiments.

This was followed by an exciting opportunity to “Meet Pepper,” the humanoid robot introduced by Mr.
Sathsara Jayasundara, which sparked tremendous curiosity and enthusiasm among the participants.

Lighter moments throughout the event, including musical chairs, ball passing, and a special round of musical chairs for teachers, added to the joyful atmosphere and fostered stronger bonds among participants.

Teachers also contributed through a dedicated STEM discussion session, sharing insights on the growing importance of STEM integration in classrooms and the value of hands-on activities for improving student engagement.

The celebration concluded with a certificate awarding ceremony, followed by a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Aashiff Ahamed, acknowledging the contributions of organizers, facilitators, and participants.

Feedback from students, teachers, and parents highlighted the program's success.

Many described it as highly useful, interesting, and enjoyable, noting that the children were enthusiastic about every activity.

Some participants mentioned that opportunities being limited to only five students in certain segments was a drawback, expressing a desire for broader inclusion in future programs.

There were strong requests to conduct more events of this nature, including school visits and increased awareness about upcoming STEM initiatives.

Overall, the STEM Day event stood out as an inspiring and enriching experience, reinforcing the importance of STEM education in nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and future innovation.

The overwhelmingly positive response reflects a growing enthusiasm within the community for more accessible and engaging STEM opportunities in the years ahead.
