McLarens shuttlers totally dominated the Division ‘A’, securing the Men’s ,Women’s and Masters gold medals, while their team members impressed in the Women’s Division ‘D’ with a silver medal, accounting for a total of five medals following an impressive run at the 41st annual Mercantile Inter-Firm Team Badminton Championship, conducted by the Mercantile Badminton Association.
McLarens shuttlers also won three individual awards presented for the best player in the Division ‘A’ Men, Division ‘A’ Masters and Women’s ‘D’ Division.
Imesha Madapathage won the Best Player award in the Men’s Division ‘A’ while Samantha Colambarachchige was adjudged the Best Player in the Master’s Division ‘A’.
Tharaka Deepani emerged as the Best Player in the Women’s ‘D’ Division.
“The overall performance was testament of a strong comeback after a few years of silence.
We really should acknowledge the guidance and support given to the team by the top management of McLarens Group.
We assure Team McLarens will aim even higher next season,” a team spokesperson stated following the completion of the eight-week long competition.
While encouraging sportspersons and teams across various disciplines at Mercantile Sports events, McLarens Group also have supported various sports at national and international levels, including badminton, motorsports and sailing, as sponsors through their renowned brands Mobil, McFoil, 3M and GAC.
