Sysco LABS was proud to be the Strategic Partner of ‘BSides Sri Lanka 2025’, the country’s first-ever community-driven cybersecurity conference.

The event held recently, brought together cybersecurity professionals, researchers and students to explore today’s most pressing security challenges and share insights on strengthening the country’s digital resilience.

The BSides global conference series is known for creating open and collaborative environments for cybersecurity conversations and the Sri Lankan edition followed suit—featuring a full-day agenda of keynote sessions, panels and technical deep dives.

Representing Sysco LABS on the main stage was Lasantha Priyankara - Security Architect, who delivered a keynote on “Securing the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).”

His session outlined practical strategies for integrating security from the earliest phases of product development—helping teams build more secure applications and reduce vulnerabilities across the lifecycle.

Shanthi Rajesh, Director – Cybersecurity at Sysco LABS and Sysco’s Business Information Security Officer (BISO) for APAC, was part of a panel discussion on “Building a Strategic Cybersecurity Future for Sri Lanka.”

The session focused on how organizations can better align with global security standards and develop long-term strategies for risk reduction.

Speaking about the role of cybersecurity in today’s digital economy, Shanthi Rajesh said:

“At Sysco LABS, we follow global frameworks to build a mature, secure landscape.

But beyond technology, it’s important that cybersecurity becomes a shared objective across organizations—one that clearly articulates its value in protecting brand reputation and preventing financial loss.

As professionals in this field, we also have a responsibility to educate and raise awareness across the nation. Cyber resilience starts with knowledge.”

Through its strategic support of the inaugural BSides event in Sri Lanka, Sysco LABS continues to demonstrate its commitment to advancing the cybersecurity conversation in the country—encouraging community discourse while also helping to develop the next generation of security professionals.
