ACCA Past Chairman of MNP Suren Rajakarier Appointed Managing Partner of KPMG Sri Lanka and Maldives

In a key leadership appointment within the professional services sector, Suren Rajakarier has stepped into the role of Managing Partner of KPMG Sri Lanka and its Maldives practice, effective 1 April 2026.

A respected figure in the accounting and audit profession, Rajakarier steps into the role following an illustrious career spanning over 38 years.

He previously served as Chief Operating Officer and led the firm’s audit practice for nearly two decades, playing a pivotal role in shaping KPMG’s audit and assurance capabilities in Sri Lanka.

As an accredited IFRS partner, he has led numerous complex financial reporting, advisory, and due diligence engagements for multinational corporations as well as leading local organisations.

His extensive experience also includes involvement in landmark transactions such as the strategic partnership of Sri Lanka Telecom with NTTI of Japan, alongside key privatisation initiatives.

Over the years, he has served as audit partner for major state institutions including the Bank of Ceylon and the Ceylon Electricity Board, further reinforcing his standing as a trusted advisor in the financial landscape.

Beyond his distinguished professional achievements, Rajakarier has cultivated a strong and enduring association with ACCA, reflecting his deep commitment to advancing the global accounting profession.

A passionate advocate for ACCA, he has contributed meaningfully across multiple leadership platforms, including his tenure on the Member Network Panel, where he served as Vice Chairman (2016–2018) and Chairman (2018–2020).

In these roles, he played a key role in driving initiatives that strengthened member engagement and promoted the highest standards of professional excellence.

He is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA).

In recognition of his contributions, he was named ACCA Sri Lanka Advocate of the Year and MENASA Regional Advocate of the Year in 2018—prestigious accolades that underscore his influence and dedication to advancing the profession.
