LANKATILES and Colombo Fashion Week Unite Again to Redefine the Fusion of Space and Fashion
Colombo, Sri Lanka - South Asia’s premier fashion platform, Colombo Fashion Week (CFW), marked its 23rd year with a spectacular showcase at Cinnamon Life, bringing together innovation, creativity and cross-cultural collaboration.
This year’s edition continued to push boundaries in design, highlighting the evolving synergy between fashion, art and space through a renewed collaboration with LANKATILES.
Building on the success of last year’s groundbreaking tiled runway - the first of its kind in Sri Lanka created for Couture + Trousseau – The Luxury Edit by CFW, LANKATILES returned for its second collaboration with CFW Summer ‘26, presenting a striking mosaic wall display that celebrated craftsmanship, design innovation and artistic expression.
As the only mosaics manufacturer in Sri Lanka, LANKATILES demonstrated its expertise through a concept rooted in contrast and harmony.
Crafted from black and white tiles of the Square Mosaic Series, the mosaic wall display explored the beauty of opposites coming together.
The interplay of light and dark symbolized balance, warmth and the emotional connection we seek in the spaces we inhabit.
At the middle of the installation stood a model replica, representing more than fashion - it embodied LANKATILES’ journey of drawing inspiration beyond surfaces, into fashion, art and living spaces.
Mosaics are small and versatile tile pieces widely used to create decorative patterns and textured surfaces in kitchens, bathrooms, backsplashes and pools.
They can also serve as striking accent walls, adding depth, warmth and character to modern living spaces.
LANKATILES is driven to be present in spaces where design is celebrated.
This year, through a unique collaboration of space and fashion, LANKATILES brought that vision to life, owning the design space with creativity and innovation.
Speaking on this fusion of fashion and spaces, Ajai Vir Singh, Founder of CFW, stated:
“LANKATILES has a very creative outlook.
If you look at their tiles, they created the first ramp in Sri Lanka at CFW Couture Week last year, which was already a breakthrough.
Now we are exploring new projects where tiles become a canvas to showcase creativity.
It transforms homes and office spaces into something artistic.”
Fazeena Rajabdeen, CEO of CFW Holdings, added:
“It is very important to collaborate with brands like LANKATILES because our design sensibilities align so well.
Last season’s Tiled Ramp was a completely new venture - something truly unique.
We are continuing this journey together, strengthening our shared vision for design innovation.”
This year’s CFW Summer ‘26 featured 30 designers, including international participants from Sri Lanka, South Africa, India, Bangladesh and China, creating a vibrant platform for networking, collaboration and cross-cultural exchange.
The event also reinforced its commitment to nurturing emerging talent, with a strong focus on designers experimenting with sustainable fabrics, ethical production and contemporary interpretations of Sri Lankan heritage.
A key highlight was the introduction of the Batik Collective, an initiative aimed at encouraging emerging Sri Lankan designers to develop a distinct identity.
Strengthening its global reach, CFW continues its partnership with the BRICS International Fashion Federation, providing Sri Lankan designers with opportunities to showcase their work internationally.
As CFW continues to evolve, collaborations like the one with LANKATILES demonstrates the power of design beyond traditional boundaries, where materials become art, spaces become stories and fashion becomes an experience.
LANKATILES remains committed to exploring new inspirations and experimentations, creating spaces you’d love to live in.
