For the third consecutive year, NDB Bank continues to support the “Adopt a Beach” initiative at Kapungoda, ensuring the stretch is maintained and cleaned daily.
This long-term effort not only prevents debris from re-entering the ocean and harming marine life but also empowers low-income women from local coastal community.
In addition, the Bank has renewed its support for the Lagoon & Mangrove Cleanup Project and the Underwater and Coral Bed Cleanup & Conservation Project for a second consecutive year.
Together, these initiatives form a multi-year, strategic approach to marine conservation.
By moving beyond one-off interventions, NDB Bank reinforces its responsibility to strengthen biodiversity, enhance climate resilience, and promote responsible environmental stewardship.
In 2025 alone, the three projects removed over 16,500 kg of waste, including plastic, polythene debris, PET bottles, fishing gear, ghost nets, and metal, demonstrating tangible impact on both ecosystems and communities.
Through these sustained efforts, NDB Bank highlights its holistic approach to sustainability, integrating environmental care with community engagement, particularly by supporting local women’s livelihoods.
These initiatives are a testament to the Bank’s long-term vision of embedding sustainability into its operations, partnerships, and social impact programs, creating lasting value for communities and future generations.
