This expansion marks a strategic evolution of ESOFT, further diversifying its university-level academic programmes and reinforcing its commitment to academic excellence and global relevance.
Applications for the June 2025 intake are now open, giving a larger cross-section of Sri Lankan students access to internationally accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Kandy, eliminating the cost and inconvenience of relocating to Colombo.
ESU Kandy’s new facility stands as the largest city university in the hill capital, offering a wide range of faculties, including Art and Design, Life Science, Computing, Engineering, Business and Law, as well as Languages, Education, and Sociology.
Its comprehensive curricula span all academic levels from foundation to undergraduate degrees to postgraduate studies, and doctoral programmes, ensuring that students can find the right pathway to suit their ambitions and career goals at ESU.
Through its affiliations with Kingston University London and London Metropolitan University, ESU Kandy grants students access to prestigious, internationally recognised qualifications, joint research opportunities, and multiple academic pathways.
Students also benefit from dual degree options, international 2+1 and 2+2 transfers, international faculty engagement, and access to a world-class education that transcends borders.
“ESU Kandy is more than an educational institution, it’s a gateway to infinite possibilities,” said Dr. Dayan Rajapakse, Chairman and Group Managing Director of ESOFT Metro Campus and ESU.
“After 25 years of empowering students through education, ESU Kandy is the natural next step, and we are pleased to announce that the June 2025 intake is now open.
ESU is about redefining what’s possible for Sri Lankan youth, especially those who want the highest standards of education without having to leave their city or their country.
ESU goes beyond classroom learning as our ultimate aim is to nurture a growing community of locally-educated professionals with a global vision for Sri Lanka.”
Echoing this sentiment, Prof. Veranja Karunaratne, Vice Chancellor of ESU, highlighted,
“Our programmes blend rigorous academic theory with practical skills, supported by cutting-edge technology and international collaborations, ensuring our graduates are ready to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving global landscape.”
Dr. Hazel Messenger, Pro-Vice-Chancellor at ESU Kandy, added,
“At ESU, education is a journey of discovery and personal growth.
We are committed to nurturing students intellectually and personally, equipping them to make meaningful contributions to society.”
