Ritzbury Champions Young Talent at 36th Junior National Squash Championship

Continuing its commitment to youth and sport in Sri Lanka, Ritzbury, the Number One Chocolate Brand in Sri Lanka, by CBL Foods International (Pvt) Ltd., powered the 36th Junior National Squash Championship for the 17th consecutive year, in collaboration with Sri Lanka Squash.

The championship, held at the Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Complex, brought together over 350 players from across the island competing in the Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, and Under-19 categories.

The finals delivered thrilling encounters and showcased the depth of Sri Lanka’s emerging squash talent.

“At Sri Lanka Squash, this championship is one of the most important milestones in our calendar, as it highlights both the depth of talent and the bright future of the sport in the country.

We are deeply grateful to Ritzbury for standing by the Junior National Squash Championship as the title sponsor for 17 years.

Their long-term support has been instrumental in uplifting the game and giving young players the platform they deserve,” said Eranda Geeganage, President of Sri Lanka Squash.

In the Under-19 finals, Nethmi Wickramasinghe claimed the girls’ title in a gripping five-set battle (3–2), while Matheesha Wijesekara swept to victory in the boys’ final with a dominant 3–0 performance.

The championship also recognized rising talent, with Chanumi Thebuwena named ‘Most Promising Girl Player of the Year 2025’ after winning the Girls’ Under-15 title and finishing 4th in the Under-17s.

Kemitha Hapuarachchi secured the title of ‘Most Promising Boy Player of the Year 2025’, following his runner-up finish in the Boys’ Under-17s and 4th in the Under-19s.

“At Ritzbury, we believe in empowering Sri Lanka’s youth through sport, and squash has been a key part of the journey for nearly two decades,” commented Niluksha Bastiansz, General Manager, Marketing, CBL Foods International (Pvt) Ltd.

“Seeing young athletes compete with such passion and determination is why we continue to support this championship year after year.”

For Ritzbury, sport is about more than trophies.

The brand sees it as a platform to instil discipline, stamina, and resilience while shaping the next generation of champions.

Alongside nearly two decades of support for junior squash, Ritzbury develops sports and raises standards in Sri Lanka through initiatives such as the Ritzbury Sir John Tarbet Athletics Championship, Ritzbury Rugby Carnival, Ritzbury Swimming Championship, Ritzbury Tennis Championship, and its own Mawbimata Weerayek Programme, launched to provide financial aid to empower athletes to excel nationally and internationally, driving the growth of athletics across the country.
