Ranithma 101st in World rankings and breaks into junior top 5 Viren climbs to No. 58

Sri Lanka badminton celebrated a landmark day as its two brightest stars, Ranithma Liyanage and Viren Nettasinghe, achieved career-best rankings in the latest update of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) world rankings.

Sri Lanka’s top women’s singles shuttler, Ranithma Liyanage, climbed 10 places to reach World No. 101, her highest-ever position in the senior rankings.


The 18-year-old has also soared to World No. 5 in the junior rankings, making her one of the top emerging talents in global badminton.


This double milestone is being hailed as an exceptional achievement for Sri Lanka badminton, further underlining her rapid rise after a string of strong international performances this season, including her title-winning run at the YONEX All England Junior Championships.


Ranithma’s international journey is being fully supported by McLarens Holdings, whose backing has enabled her to train and compete in top-tier tournaments around the world.


Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s leading men’s singles player Viren also enjoyed a major leap, climbing 18 places to World No. 58.
