David Pieris Motor Company shines at Presidential Environment Awards 2025

David Pieris Motor Company (Private) Limited (DPMC), Sri Lanka’s largest automotive company, has once again been recognised for its unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable operational practices, winning a Bronze Award at the Presidential Environment Awards 2025.

Organised annually by the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) under the Ministry of Environment, the Presidential Environment Awards celebrate organisations that demonstrate outstanding environmental responsibility, conservation excellence and innovation in sustainable business processes.

DPMC received the Bronze Award under the Vehicle Servicing Centre Category for its DPMC Workshop Madapatha, the vehicle servicing and maintaining arm of the DPMC.

Significantly, no Gold or Silver awards were presented this year and only one Merit Award was conferred to another
organisation — positioning DPMC as the top-ranked and leading entity in its category.

The award was accepted on behalf of the company by Mr. Samantha Silva, Executive Director, David Pieris Motor Company (Private) Limited.

The awards follow a rigorous assessment process, which includes detailed on-site evaluations by CEA officials.

Organisations
are scored on a variety of environmental performance criteria including energy conservation, water treatment and efficiency, pollution prevention, sustainability innovation, health and safety systems, productivity improvements, and overall operational discipline.

DPMC’s continued achievements reflect its long-term commitment to minimising environmental impact while upholding high standards of workplace safety and efficiency.

Last year, the company earned a Merit Award in the same category at the Presidential Environment Awards 2024, reinforcing its leadership in responsible environmental management and continuous improvement.

Further supporting sustainability beyond core operations, the David Pieris Group actively contributes to environmental and wildlife conservation through its Social Welfare Committee.

The Group has been sponsoring wildlife protection signage inside
Minneriya National Park for over 22 years and has extended this support to Kaudulla National Park, with Assetline Finance Limited taking the lead from this year.

Additionally, the Group has continuously funded the cleaning of the
MinneriyaHabarana stretch of Minneriya National Park for the past eight years.

This latest recognition stands as another testament to DPMC’s leadership in environmental responsibility, and its promise to help create a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Sri Lanka.
